A service dedicated to the rehabilitation of patients with low vision was introduced in Portugal in the 1970s by the clinic through a contract for the installation and training of technical staff by the Swedish company LVI (Low Vision International), at the time one of the world's pioneers in this field of ophthalmology.

Subsequently, we collaborated in the installation and training of other centres in Portugal, as well as running some training and dissemination courses for teachers, especially those in special education.

A low vision consultation involves the use of special equipment such as magnifiers, telescopic magnifying glasses, telescopes, electronic image magnification systems, etc. This equipment requires specific selection and training for correct use.
