Oculoplastic/Aesthetic surgery

Rhytidectomies

The most commonly performed surgery in the oculoplastic area is the correction of the bags and folds of the upper eyelids – Rhytidectomies.

Wrinkles

The formation of wrinkles around the eyes, classically treated with Botox and hyaluronic acid injections, is undergoing a new evolution with the application of plasma activated with growth factors (PRGF).

PRGF, obtained from the patient's own blood through a rapid laboratory process, is then injected into the skin under the area of the wrinkles to be treated.

As it is a natural product and originates from the person themselves, it is free from the possibility of allergic reactions or cross-infections. Painless, it has a mild effect, without abrupt, visibly detectable or "artificial" changes in facial expression.

In moderate situations, 2 applications are usually carried out 2-3 weeks apart, and in more severe cases the treatment is repeated after 3 months.

In extreme situations of skin with abundant and deep wrinkles, the treatment can be repeated at the patient's discretion as there is no risk of overdose.

After one year, more than 50 per cent of people treated have not considered it necessary to repeat the procedure.

In practical terms, one could say that the appearance of the face will be similar to what it was 3 or 4 years before the intervention.

This product, with its multiple preparation formulas, is used in ophthalmology – in the treatment of dry eye and serious corneal lesions such as trophic ulcers – and also in orthopaedics, traumatology, stomatology, etc.
